The Lemosho Route is one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic trails, approaching the mountain from the western slopes. This 7-day itinerary offers a gradual ascent, excellent acclimatization, and stunning views of both Kibo and Mawenzi peaks, making it ideal for trekkers seeking a balanced combination of adventure, comfort, and high summit success rates.
Trekkers begin through lush Shira rainforest, gradually transitioning to moorland and alpine desert as they ascend. The route provides dramatic scenery, including expansive views of the Shira Plateau, Barranco Valley, and volcanic formations. Wildlife sightings such as colobus monkeys and exotic birds add to the sense of wilderness.
Summit day reaches Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) via Barafu Camp, with a breathtaking sunrise over Africa. The descent via the Mweka Route passes through heathland and rainforest, concluding a journey that balances challenge, beauty, and the unforgettable thrill of reaching Kilimanjaro’s roof.
